still nursing a migraine
Sunglasses: Vintage Ray Ban W0976
White Knitted Top: GG>5
Black Pin-Stripe Bermudas: Chinatown(?)
vintage ray ban
So I couldn't help but wonder, what's next?
I remember The Mother has a pair of vintage RayBan. Not the most flattering modern design of all, but it has great sentimental value to The Mother (I assume).
I searched around the internet to ascertain the model of the sunglasses. Apparently this is 'Oval Gold Metal Frame with Mirrored Black Diamond-Hard Scratch Resistant Bausch & Lomb Lenses - W1909'.
EDIT: Correct model is W0976.
The Mother agreed to lend it to me without hesitation but with one condition: Do Not Lose It. I could see where she's coming from.
I can't wait to try it out and take it to the streets, minus the cartoon-villain-looking part.

double act
saddle up
It should go well with any given casual outfit and pretty girly when worn across the body or hanging off on one shoulder. So The-Mother's-era.

time for marni
I just love love the dainty peep-toe and stacked platform features. Colours' pretty fierce too! Very edgy.
So far there is no Marni boutiques around here in Singapore. It's so very only-available-outside-Asia. On Pedder does carry this label though. But I guess we can always count on our very own homegrown label, Charles & Keith to create a similar knock-off.

alive not dead
I used to wear it with black blouse and pencil skirt to 'casualise' an otherwise solemn all-black outfit. It was a great combi but soon it became boring and predictable.
Once, an essential item at its 'peak of fame' during the early 90's is now lost and forgotten in a sea of other more attractive outfits. Strangely, this denim jacket gives me an alternate comfort (and warmth for that matter) which no other jackets/jumpers/sweaters could offer. So I'm now looking for ways to breathe some life into this jacket.
But I'm so not going to piece this denim jacket with a pair of jeans to look like this:
No.Way.
I'll rumble through my wardrobe to whip up some inspiration. This shall be my weekend project. =)

old boots made new
Somewhere somehow I knew I had a pair when I was a young kid. But it wasn't my day; The Mother had disposed the old shoes years ago. So I spent the next 2 hours at the Dr. Martens website, drooling over what could be my mode du jour for this coming Friday's TGIF! mood.
It's really inflation's doing that what used to be a fairly affordable basic Dr. Martens' boots, is now a luxury item. (i.e. screaming out 'expensive!') So maybe it's a good thing that there's no Dr. Martens stores in Singapore, otherwise I'd be so tempted to deplete my pocket for a pair.

tis the season for trilbies
Evolved from just a simple baseball cap-fan, I’m now so fascinated by the intriguing erotic sensual display a trilby could bring about. Like jeans - you have high-waisted, low-risers, vintage, rough-it-out treated, boot-cut flarers, skinny cigarettes and God-knows-whatelse.
Trilbies come in an array of textures - soft-felt, tweed, straw, rafia, cotton angora, and wool. A myriad of personalities one could metamorphose into when a trilby is donned - Italian Smooth Criminal, Cuban Beach-Bummer, Rat Packer, Hip-Hop Diva, Jazz Crooner, Smart-Arse Detective, Country-Side Recluse. Since Singapore girls prefer the lazy Boho look (i.e. clothes lesser the better in this hot climate), a straw/rafia trilby surely can smarten the tired sloppy look, giving it a retro edge. Besides, since everyone complain Singapore is so damn hot, cannot be too fashionable, then wear a hat lah!
What say you?

peek-a-boo
A few entries ago, I talked about monochrome pairing - this season’s comeback kid. Same picture as reference point, (very) subtle revelation is something to pick up this season. (Actually I think it’s good for any season!)
My black sillk blouse from BEBE (acquired circa 2006), sports a longish keyhole that runs from collar bone down the chest, and stops promptly at the breast bone. I can still still my plunge-neck bra! The top half is semi-translucent thin veil of silk while the bottom half, opaque black silk. No wonder they call this peek-a-boo.
Such ‘reveal-and-conceal’ top is best made of lightweight material such silk, chiffon or organza.
Vogue suggests that classic sheer shade is black, but navy blue and forest green make good alternatives too. And if the keyhole is right smack at your breast bone, no visible bra please!

ain't no platform high enough
1. Peep-toe front allows better ventilation for feet i.e. no more smelly feet!
2. Thicker midsole for higher shock absorption i.e. longer (and less painful) walks in heels!
3. Thicker width ankle buckle for greater support i.e. no more embarassing shoe drop!
4. Add extra inches to the silhouette.
5. Dainty peep-toe so you can either wear it on its own or over an opaque black stockings!
